The V-Word

Veganism.
It's a label that I put on myself, not because I want it to define me but because I want people to understand that I am not going to be eating that cheese and pepperoni pizza. I simply choose not to eat meat, eggs, and I have always been allergic to dairy (that part usually does define me). When I made that choice, I got a lot of people asking me why I won't just eat eggs? They're supposed to be the perfect food, apparently (I thought that was fruit but whatever). I was told that not all vegans were skinny and not all meat-eaters were fat. Good point, guys.
So, because people still wonder why I'm doing this and I have a hard time explaining things in the moment with my voice, I'm writing this particular blog post.

Reasons I went vegan that are not written here to sway you:

1. Vegans have lower rates of cancer, heart disease, and a bunch of other things I don't pay attention to.
I have had health scares like any other person. People have gone raw vegan to get rid of their cancer, but wouldn't it be better to just be vegan and avoid getting cancer first?

2. Eggs have no fiber, about 5g of FAT, and the same amount of protein in one large egg as about FIVE bananas.
Yes, they have calcium and more iron, but I would hardly call them the most perfect food. To me, that's bananas. Which also have calcium, iron, and protein among heaps of other vitamins and minerals. Plus, bananas have tryptophan in them which boosts serotonin. So bananas could make you happier.

3. I just don't like meat. Or eggs.
I am not doing this to make my life more difficult. If I go to a restaurant and get a sandwich and the bread has eggs in it, I'm not going to freak out about it. Oh well. But I am trying to be healthier by eating a high carb, low fat vegan diet. I may not be the best at eating healthily - I ate ramen noodles (without seasoning packets) five times last week - but I am working towards it.
